Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring to update your home.

Should I choose vinyl or laminate flooring?

Vinyl and laminate flooring are quite similar, in that they are both durable and reliable surfaces within a similar affordable price range. They can often look similar too but there are differences between vinyl and laminate that will affect which one you choose. Vinyl flooring is made from plastic, while laminate is 99% wood. Usually laminate flooring looks more natural than vinyl and can even sometimes be mistaken for wood. Vinyl on the other hand has moisture resistance than laminate and so will be better for places which are liable to get wet such as a bathroom.

Why choose laminate flooring?

Durable and stain resistant, laminate flooring is a great way to update your space without spending a fortune. It comes in a wide range of colours and styles so you are bound to find a laminate that will fit with your existing decor. Laminate flooring is incredibly durable and versatile, and the perfect flooring for those high-traffic areas in your house where other types of flooring might soon begin to show wear and tear. That said, if you want to use laminate flooring in an area that is prone to moisture – for example a bathroom or kitchen – it is always best to choose a specialist laminate that is specifically designed for use in those rooms

Types of laminate flooring

There are three main types of finish for laminate flooring: hand-scraped, which is made to look like feel just like real wood; textured, which has a textured, scratch-resistant layer which makes it look like wood flooring; and smooth laminate which has a natural look but a smooth finish. All three are affordable, durable and scratch-resistant. Most modern laminate flooring is quick and easy to install, with no need for glue or adhesive, though a few types do require an adhesive. Whatever the look you’re aiming for with your home, there is bound to be a laminate to compliment it perfectly. Natural wood effect laminate comes in a huge range of hues, from very dark wood to the lighter hues. You can also get antique-effect laminate that would work really well in a rural country home, and ultra-modern boards that look great in a contemporary home.
